Xavy is a Zambian Rap/Hip Hop artist whose real names are David Kondwelani Banda. He was born on 30th January 1996 in a family of 4 in Livingstone. He stayed in Solwezi before moving to Lusaka.
Xavy music career started at the age of 13 after experiencing huge influences from Drake, Lil Wayne, J Cole, T.I, Rick Ross, Akon and T-Pain. Xavy with his friends formed a rap group called L.Fresco. The trio went on to drop a Mixtape in 2012 titled “Proven Point”. L.Fresco had little success despite doing some shows and receiving radio airplays. The group later split.
Xavy continued with his music career connecting with hip-hop/Rap artist and songwriter “Avondale’s Finest”, Swish who Introduced him to some people in the industry.
Xavy then released his single early 2016 titled “I feel amazing”, this gave him recognition in the music industry. He then released a couple of singles after that and a Mixtape titled “progress with patience” in mid 2017 that featured few familiar names in the industry.
In 2018 Xavy released a hit single titled “sate sate” which is a reference to Zambian football player Ronald Kampamba who plays as a striker for Nkana Football Club in the Zambian Super League. Xavy calls himself “the rap sate sate”.
On June 14th 2019, Xavy released a 2 song EP which he called “the winter tape”. The songs were the wind and instrumental, the latter features Copperbelt based Award winning R&B artist T-Low.
The song has since done well getting airplays and charting on a couple of radio stations. It’s highest peak was when it debuted at number 2 on Power FM and it peaked at number 4 on Pan African Radio. The Song was a hit in a few clubs in Lusaka.
Xavy is currently working on new music and a project scheduled for release in 2020. This is a project which he will talk about his life experiences, losing his dad at the age of 10 and growing up with a single parent and about his music career present date, he said.
