Naimah is a Zambian singer, songwriter, recording and performing artist, mental health advocate, and philanthropist currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She first appeared on the Zambian music scene in 2006 with her first collaboration with Australian based rappers Floss & JTimba when she was just 16 years old. After relocating to South Africa to pursue studies in psychology Naimah chased her passion in music, attending vocal coaching and releasing her first single as a solo artist titled “Long Time” with acclaimed producer, Kimosabe.
Born in Lusaka and raised in Kitwe on the Copperbelt, and going off to grow into a successful young woman and music artist in South Africa, the vernac-bilingual, mixed-race bombshell embodies the values and multicultural appeal to young and older people both for Zambians in Zambia and Zambians in the southern and international diaspora.
SHOWS & PERFORMANCES
While Naimah’s single Long Time topped radio charts in SA and Zambia Naimah earned features in print and online media publications. It was her follow up dance hall club banger titled “Mash it” that put Naimah on the club scene as a top performer, performing in some of the biggest clubs in Johannesburg.
Naimah was also recently featured on the KZN Music ‘Imbizo’ lineup as a showcasing act in Durban, South Africa.
In 2018 Naimah headlined on one of the biggest concerts to be held in Zambia “Cassper Nyovest and Zambia’s most wanted” where she was a headline act and brand ambassador to cigarette brand, ‘Caesar.’
COLLABORATIONS & ACCOLADES
Naimah has also collaborated with a number of prominent artists on the continent over the duration of her career:
In 2017 Naimah collaborated with DJ Ganyani and earned her first album feature on the SAMA Nominated album, Ganyani House Grooves 10.
Naimah has worked with various independent labels as a commissioned song writer and vocal coach for other artists. Her most recent release titled ‘Mario’ earned her the spotlight in Zambia when it topped at #2 for three consecutive weeks on the Lusaka Top 10 countdown since its release in 2018.
Naimah has also collaborated on a song titled “Boombastic” with Beenie Man, Da Les, Buffalo Souljah and Taygrin.
And she has acted and starred in music videos for the hit song QLuv by Dj Ganyanyi featuring Wonder Boy and Reload Magazine by Jahrimba of Seychelles.
PHILANTHROPY & EDUCATION
Naimah has earned two psychology degrees from the university of The Witwatersrand and she is very passionate about philanthropy and giving back to her community .
Naimah works as a volunteer counselor, motivational speaker, donor and fundraiser for organizations such as the Teddy Bear Clinic for abused Children, Mother Theresa and Gerald Fitzpatrick Home’s for the aged, The South African Depression and anxiety Group (SADAG) and Strathyre Girls Home, her church and various shelters and homes for children and mothers affected by poverty and HIV and AIDS around Johannesburg, South Africa.
She is also a co-founder of a non profit organization called “Ithuba”, which means ‘opportunity’ in the native South African language of ‘isiZulu’. It is aimed at engaging with various projects and initiatives aimed at giving opportunities and resources to the poor and less fortunate in South Africa and Zambia.
