Zikani Garvey Nyirenda  always had a passion for fashion when growing up. A Bachelor of Arts Public Administration graduate from the University of Malawi Chancellor College, I decided I was going to still pursue my dream in the business of Fashion. Thus in 2015 I Co founded Malawi’s only fashion week, The Award winning Mzuzu Fashion Week which is fast becoming Malawi’s premiere fashion event and has activities all year round with the Main event every first week of October each year.

Drawn from the inspiration of various fashion brands such as GUCCI, DOLCE AND GABANA, Vera Wang, David Tlale, I found what I loved most which was becoming a Fashion Designer as well. Thus I launched my Brand ZGI by Zik Garvey in 2018 which dominantly makes custom Made Bags and accessories but also makes clothes for all sexes. I have since then showcased at Lake of Stars, MzFW and WAFE. Just like any other budding designer in Africa I still have challenges to deeply route the brand and i am thankful that in the past two years of establishing the ZGI brand I was able to get clients from USA, UK South Africa Malawi, and Zambia and still strive to sprout to the rest of the world as I believe in the motto ‘achievement lies within the reach of those who reach beyond themselves’

Besides designing Zikani is an events consultant and model trainer. In my free time I love also giving back to the community and thus do train other people who have a passion for fashion be it designing or modelling. I believe that it essential to also uplift others and work together to put African fashion on the Map and what better way than supporting the dreams of other equally talented people. I am fun loving and love to travel and get inspiration from nature.

I am single but however I believe that love is a beautiful thing and everyone deserves to love and to be loved. Much as we have Valentine’s day on the 14 of February love aught to go beyond that love is am everyday thing and 14th is a day to go the extra mile to spoil loved ones.
I will spend my Valentine’s day counting my blessings on how much I’m loved and reciprocate the love.
