The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California, United States on sunday 9 th February 2020.

Janelle Monáe opened the show with a musical number featuring Billy Porter, and even got celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio singing along.
There was also performances by Billie Eilish, Cynthia Erivo, and more, plus an unexpected Eminem appearance on stage, performing his hit “Lose Yourself” from the 2002 movie “8 Mile.”
“Lose Yourself” helped Eminem win an Oscar in 2003 – for best original song. But he didn’t come to the ceremony to accept it.

Parasite” became the first foreign-language film to win best picture. Its win in the international feature film, director and original screenplay categories were also a first for a South Korean movie.
Losing in two categories only: film editing and production design, the Bong Joon Ho’s black comedy almost swept the 92nd Academy Awards on Sunday night, making history along the way.

“Parasite” beat out  Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story,” Todd Phillips’“Joker” — which had led nominations with 11 —Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Sam Mendes’ “1917,” James Mangold’s “Ford v Ferrari,” Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit” and Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” for the top prize.

Meanwhile, Renee Zellweger (“Judy”), Joaquin Phoenix (“Joker”), Laura Dern (“Marriage Story”) and Brad Pitt (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”) continued their awards season dominance with their acting wins. Mendes’ war drama “1917,” which was expected to rule the night following its 10 nods and stellar awards season, only took home three prizes in technical categories. “The Irishman” was snubbed entirely, despite its 10 nominations.
