Naimah is a Zambian South African based afropop singer, songwriter, recording and performing artist, mental health advocate and philanthropist.
Naimah was born to a Lebanese father and Zambian mother in Lusaka and raised in Kitwe on the Copperbelt, and going off to grow into a successful young woman and music artist in South Africa, the vernac-bilingual, mixed-race bombshell embodies the values and multicultural appeal to young and older people both for Zambians and Zambians in Diaspora.
Naimah first emerged on the Zambian music scene in 2006 with her first collaboration with Australian based rappers Floss & J-Timba when she was just 16 years old. After relocating to South Africa to study psychology, Naimah chased her passion in music, attending vocal coaching and releasing her first single as a solo artist titled “Long Time” with acclaimed producer, Kimosabe.
While Naimah’s debut single in 2016, “Long Time” topped radio charts in South Africa and Zambia earning Naimah features in print and online media publications. Her follow up dancehall club banger titled “Mash it” that put Naimah on the club scene as a top performer in some of the biggest clubs in Johannesburg.
Naimah has also featured on the Kwa Zulu Natal Music ‘Imbizo’ lineup as a showcasing act in Durban, South Africa.
In 2018 Naimah was part of one of the biggest concerts to be held in Zambia “Cassper Nyovest and Zambia’s most wanted”
where she was a headline act and brand ambassador to the cigarette brand, ‘Caesar.
Naimah’s single ‘Zamunda’ was on rotation across local South African radio stations such as : Metro FM, Thobela FM, Khozi FM, Lesedi FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM and many more.
Naimah has also collaborated with a number of prominent artists on the continent over the duration of her career.
In 2017 Naimah collaborated with DJ Ganyani and earned her first album feature on the SAMA Nominated album, Ganyani House Grooves 10.
She has worked with various independent labels as a commissioned songwriter and vocal coach for other artists. Naimah’s most recent release titled ‘Mario’ earned her the spotlight in Zambia when it topped at #2 for three consecutive weeks on the Lusaka Top 10 countdown since its release in 2018.
Naimah has also collaborated on a song titled ‘Boombastic’ with Beenie Man, Da Les, Buffalo Souljah and Taygrin.
And she has acted and starred in music videos for the hit song QLuv by Dj Ganyanyi featuring Wonder Boy and Reload Magazine by Jahrimba of Seychelles.
Naimah’s most recent artistic venture has seen her become the host of her own digitally distributed podcast called “Damn Straight” where she delves beyond the surface of her very opinionated, educational, and empowering social media content.
