DJ Cosmo established himself as a successful musician by recording his first hit single
“Nalelo Bwacha” featuring Kayo. The video to the song, which became an instant hit gained him recognition and got nominated for Zambia’s biggest Music Awards, Born and Bred. The hit song also got nominated for an award at “Fly” in 2010 and “Koko Ndodo” in 2012.
Dj Cosmo became well known because of his ever energetic live stage performances during his whole country tour.
He has also toured Malawi, South Africa and Austria and has shared the stage with Lucious Banda, Tekno, Patoranking, Morgan Heritage and K-Cee.
In 2013 DJ Cosmo released his Debut album Titled “Point of No Return” and sold 8000 copies within
the first month of its release. The response was overwhelming in Zambia and in Austria, where he
went back again to promote his album.
After the success of “Point of No Return,” DJ Cosmo started writing more songs in english to attract an international audience, while remaining faithful to his roots by recording Dancehall hits, this is how he came up with the very first
successful single of his second album, Thee Statement. The single titled “Sexy Panty” features
Zimbabwe’s King of African Dancehall Buffalo Souljah and its video, did very well on Channel O, MTVBase and Trace Africa. This boosted his career tremendously.
DJ Cosmo got invited to perform at the Africa Movie Academy Awards nomination
party in 2014 which was held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa. This gave him a lot of
exposure to the international audience and led to another invitation to the 2014 Namibia Music Awards.
Dj Cosmo then released another Hit single titled “She Aah Bomb” featuring Kayo with a banger of a Video which Trace Africa had graced with great applause due to the excellent response by their audience and the Video topped the #Soundsystem Top Ten Charts for 6 weeks and won him the Award for Best Music Video of 2015 in Zambia and earned him a VP Records worldwide distribution deal under there platform known as VPAL Music.
He then released his sophomore album project titled “Thee Statement” on the 15th December 2016 and continued to outperform Zambians and African artists alike at Festivals like the Mosi Day of Thunder 2018
and Amigo Festival Events. He has also been nominated for the Kwacha Music Award twice for best
Dancehall Artist in 2017 and 2018 including 2019 for his chart topping hits “Pro Twerker,” “Love Again,” and “Man Grab Ah Girl.” These have given him major success in Zambia across Africa and Jamaica. This year his Single “In Touch” has topped all Zambian music charts, has also done well on African charts and Jamaican and has surpassed his previous hit songs and 2020 will see him release his third album at the beginning of the year.
Dj Cosmo is also one of the 50 Artists named as the Zambian Ambassador for “ICAH” “OXFAM” in Zambia.
